Frequently Asked Question
What is School Night
for Scouting?
Scouting's annual recruiting drive takes place in
August and September. Area elementary schools host "School Night For Scouting" reception one evening during August or
September. The specific dates, locations, and additional information about
School Night For Scouting should be sent home with
your son from school during the first few weeks of the new year.
School Night For Scouting
includes a presentation for the parents with information on how to join,
Scouting's mission, and what paperwork is required. It also will include
representatives from several area Packs, who usually have displays of the
activities and events their Pack participates in each year. Parents and boys
are encouraged to talk with the Packs represented and, if interested, select
one to join. Most often, the selection is based on location, but it may also be
selected on the chartering organization (for example a church or neighborhood)
which the family already has a relationship with. The Pack representatives will
have a registration form that can be completed that evening.
